CCRTA Career Fair Print Media
Target Audience: Our target audience for CCRTA's September 18th Career Fair were individuals interested in a career within the public transportation industry.
Strategy Objective:The objective was to promote CCRTA's Career Fair that took place on September 18, 2023. Banners were strategically placed at both CCRTA facilities as well as at the four transfer stations within the system. In addition, flyers were distributed at community outreach events by CCRTA's Human Resources and Public Relations departments. The goal would be for interested individuals to attend the Career Fair in-person, or apply for a position on our website.
Situation Challenge: As part of CCRTA's long-range system plan, the organization will be expanding routes and service schedules. In order to meet these developments, it is essential that the organization hire additional Bus Operators. Due to the surplus of refineries in the area, individuals with a CDL are in high demand. As part of the event's promotion, banners and flyers were created, which effectively drew individuals in toward a career with CCRTA.
Results Impact: The Career Fair hosted almost 30 individuals, with more than 20 total applications (13 for Bus Operators, 8 for other organizational vacancies). There were 10 job offers made for Bus Operators as a direct result of the Career Fair. The New Hire Bus Operating Training Class that followed in early October had a class of 16 individuals. These hires help supplement our workforce as additional Bus Operators are needed and current Bus Operators retire.
Why Submit: The Career Fair provided an opportunity to promote openings within our organization. The print materials were eye-catching in color, the messaging was efficient, and imagery featured current CCRTA employees. The use of employees was inclusive, added authenticity to the campaign, and internally created a sense of appreciation from the featured employees. With CDLs being high demand and workforces aging, recruitment is key year-round. A Career Fair is cost-effective (we hosted ours at our Operations Facility), is convenient for attendees, and provides an opportunity to promote the organization's brand and build a workforce for the future. The print materials were key in educating our audience of the event.
